These coming holidays you want to try 'The SCUBA Diving Experience' . 

Ever since you watched Katrina Kaif in  'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara'  

you're itching to go for it .Well , you haven't tried scuba diving before , 

so you'll be offered the experience of a 'Try Dive' in 

a swimming pool or confined water conditions .

       What is a 'Try Dive' ?

                    A 'Try Dive' will give you a brief  introduction to breathing 

underwater with Scuba Equipment in the comfort of 

waist deep water , taking you through 

some basic underwater skills that include : 

1. Breathing rules and Equalization Techniques 

2. Scuba Equipment purpose & use .

         3. Hand Signals . 4. Regulator Clearing & Recovery techniques . 

5. Mask Clearing .  6. Respect for Aquatic life .

 7. Importance of watching and staying close to the Instructor .

8. Practice BCD   inflation / deflation at the surface in shallow water .

                                                                 Who can enroll ? 

              The only requirements are that you're at least 10 years old , 

are in good health with No Major Health Problems , 

and of course you should have an interest in diving .

How long does this all take ?

Total session can last between thirty minutes to an hour 

with a maximum depth of 6 meters. Those who are not 

comfortable swimmers would prefer the shorter session .

Who can conduct this session ?

Only Dive Masters with DSD certification and under direct 

supervision of an Instructor with no more than 2 adults(15 yrs & over)

 per DM during each session . .Please ask to see and verify your 

Dive masters certification card with photograph to ensure your SAFETY .

Which agency / dive centre to sign up with ?

Most metros have Professional Dive Centres / Schools , 

you can also enroll on a beach / island holiday in the 

Andaman & Nicobar /Lakshadweep & Minicoy islands as well as 

Goa , Pondicherry.(coastal beaches in India have low visibility

 conditions and are not recommended) .Look out for acredited 

Professional agencies like PADI , CMAS , SSI , NAUI  BSAC 

to make your first experience memorable and to Ensure Your SAFETY .

Do I become a certified diver after this ?

A 'Try Dive' doesn't get you a Scuba Diving Certification . 

It allows for a short entry level experience of what it is to be 

underwater with scuba gear. It allows a tick off your bucket list 

and a photograph of yourself underwater with scuba gear for 

your Face Book page . Those wanting more can next go for 

a Discover Scuba Diving  experience in open water or

certifications like 1. Scuba Diver  course . 2. Open Water Diver course .

Protocol during a dive ?

Specially if you are a young lady . A Professional will not

 hold you by any part of your body, he may offer to let you

 hold his hand for your sense of comfort and well being ,

 he will steer and guide you vide your BCD jacket  or

 by holding your tank valve . Beware if otherwise as

 A few Rotten apples exist .

Using this inspirational quote by the renowned inventor of scuba diving ,we must encourage Indian Government to quickly  declare these sites as Marine Reserves to facilitate scientific study and verification by ASI as well as ensuring their protection by devout Hindus when they undertake scuba diving ‘Underwater Pilgrimages’ to these renowned mythological sites. Krishna's beloved city Dwarka and Rama Setu demand our protection and preservation .

Krishna's submerged lost city Dwarka in western India off Gujarat evokes the Mahabharata and Rama Setu or Adams bridge the Ramayana, these coral limestone shoals from Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu up to the northern coastal tip of Sri Lanka  have a deep connect with Hindu mythology and is believed  to be the bridge that Rama crossed to bring Sita back from the clutches of the demon king Ravana.

The ministry of culture, it is learnt, has directed ASI to initiate the process of reviving its underwater archaeology department, thereby giving a fillip to the government's plans to set up mythological circuits.The Indian government is keen to establish the scientific veracity of Dwarka , the submerged Mythological capital of Lord Krishna’s kingdom , and the Rama Setu , a set of coral limestone shoals believed to date back to the Ramayana.

ASI has now initiated the exercise in collaboration with National Institute of Oceanography, Goa to set up its underwater centre. ASI will also be training archaeologists and sea divers to conduct the study and establish their links.The ministry of culture, the nodal ministry for ASI, is also looking at options to bring on board international experts from the field of ocean archaeology. "The government wants to clear all doubts and settle all debates about the existence of Dwarka and Rama Setu. The two sites will be a part of the Rama Circuit and the Krishna Circuit being proposed by ministry of tourism .

About my Diving Journey ...
' Scubadenz ' ( Denzil linhares ) ... began in 1996 , as recreational scuba diver in Kadmat Island, Lakshadweep with  ' Lacadives ' for CMAS 1&2 Star certifications ... then traveled to Havelock Island, Andaman & Nicobar, for a  crossover to PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) for Divemaster , Open Water Scuba Instructor,EFR Instructor , & MSDT prep. certifications at " Barefoot Scuba's 5 star PADI IDC" in May 2011 .Appointed Consultant & Instructor in may 2011 at ' Orca Dive Club ' , Mumbai & worked with Barefoot Scuba doing training/certifications during the high season of 2011-12 . Achieved PADI IDC Staff Instructor in May 2012 for a higher level of responsibility & be part of the training of future PADI professionals and staffing Instructor training conducted by PADI Course Directors. Appointed Consultant & Instructor in september 2012 with Lakshadweep Diving Academy . Organised & Staffed entirely India's first PADI IDC of 2013 in January . It was also India's largest then , with 11 candidates & the first ever to be held in the Lakshadweep Islands . Joined Infiniti Liveaboard as Cruise Director , India's 1st Scuba Diving Liveaboard boat, Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar, April 2013/May 2014 . In May 2013 achieved Emergency First Response's highest certification rating EFR Instructor Trainer . Staffed the 1st mainland PADI IDC in October 2013 at Temple Adventures, Pondichery, India . Achieved PADI Master Instructor rating 3-12-2013 . Became the 1st PADI Course Director from INDIA certifying at the PADI CDTC Kota Kinabalu in march 2014 .

Scubadenz was moved by a film made  by Mike Pandey on Whale Shark Slaughter In India . Watch a shortened version of the film 'Shores of Silence  .

The film is an effort to create awareness and gather support to protect and conserve this species. The aim is to eventually help create policies to ban whale shark trade in India and find sustainable alternatives for the local fishing community. This film moved the government of India into bringing in legislation and banning the killing of the Whale Sharks on Indian shores. The Whale Shark was declared protected under The Indian Wildlife Act 1972, bringing it at par with the tigers and the Rhino. This was a landmark move. It was the first marine species to be protected under the Indian law. In November 2002, at the international CITES meet in Chile, Santiago, a negative voting changed into an overwhelming positive after this film was shown to the delegates - bringing global protection of the Whale Shark and giving the largest fish in the world a new lease of life. The Film has also been greatly successful in bringing about change in the attitude of fisher folk .
